About Bryn

Bryn was born in Fremont and raised in Los Altos, California. With her shyness, short hair and goofy teeth, many thought she was a boy until her Mom let her pierce her ears at age 10. She became much more outgoing in high school, and participated in many activities in school politics and band. Singing with her church choir, she traveled to many exciting places including Russia and the Baltic's, England and Lodi, CA.

Her love of art and art history was born while traveling to museums around the world. Bryn pursued this interest in college, studying abroad in Florence Italy and majoring in Interdisciplinary Humanities / Art History. She kept up her interest in student activities, and received many awards for organizing cultural arts and women’s issues events at college. She graduated from University of San Diego Honors program in 1997.

In 1999, instead of sticking to her plan of going to law school, Bryn chose to begin graduate studies in art history in New York. This was largely due to Rose and Claire, her teachers from Italy. From 1998 to 2001, she participated in many artist-in-residence programs facilitated by Rose and Claire. These programs are an exciting place to meet artists from around the world, and study philosophy, art history and studio art in a remote location in Tuscany. Not to mention to drink lots of Chianti (no fava beans though).

Unfortunately, Bryn didn’t like her doctoral program, or living in New York City. She moved back to California on September 10, 2001, with help from her parents. Beset by this event and other sad events in her family, Bryn was inspired to find what she loved. She found it in two things: teaching art, and Chris.

Goaded on by her friend, Katy, Bryn signed on to match.com in 2001. Through the service, Bryn realized just how many strange and slightly creepy men live in the Bay Area. Fortunately, one man was very different. They went out on their first date on October 12, 2001, and it was love at first sight.

Since 2001, Bryn has worked at Community School of Music and Arts, teaching art and creating art camps for kids. She currently teaches full-time at two schools, Bubb and Meadow Heights, and manages summer art camps for over 1000 kids. When not busy working, she tries to get the kid's paint out of her clothes. Also, she creates artwork of her own in her lovely garage studio/bike shop/rocker studio/snowboard shop/general disaster area.

Chris and Bryn moved in together in 2002, and really enjoy each other’s company.  They enjoy many fun activities together: camping, cooking, gardening, skiing, hanging out with friends, and even bowling and kick-boxing! She also enjoys her favorite activities like reading and taking long walks to relax.
