About Chris
Chris was born and raised in San Jose, California. Growing up
he developed a love for the outdoors and riding his bike, which
he has yet to grow out of. In high school Chris enjoyed Drama,
Wrestling, and Rugby, playing the drums, and the beach. Mostly,
he enjoyed causing trouble with his friends.
In college Chris had the opportunity to participate in an
intensive humanities program, which served to further develop
his interest in literature, art, and philosophy. Originally a
Political Science major, Chris one day realized that he had no
fondness for politics or politicians. Chris decided to change
majors to Psychology.
Chris completed his BA in Psychology, Originally hoping to go
into practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Chris
continued on for his MS in Clinical Psychology. After
graduation, and a lot of soul searching, Chris realized that a
career in professional psychology was not the path he wished to
follow. The limitations of managed "care" combined with his own
observations about the field prompted Chris to seek out an
alternative career path.
With some guidance from other professionals, Chris decided to
explore the field of Human Resources. It was in this area that
Chris felt he could best leverage his education with his desire
to serve others. After a brief stint at a startup company, Chris
accepted a position in 1999 at Altera Corporation, where he
currently works as an Employee Relations Consultant. Chris has
also briefly held a side job as a drummer in an industrial rock
band, until he got tired of staying out past his bedtime.
After having mixed luck in relationships, Chris took the
advice of a good friend and signed up for match.com. After halfheartedly surfing numerous profiles, Chris
decided to e-mail Bryn. They've been together since.
Chris and Bryn enjoy spending time together whenever they
can, making frequent trips to Lake Tahoe to ski / snowboard
(they will never see eye to eye on that topic). The pair also
enjoys traveling together, which they discovered (much to their
relief!) after spending 2 weeks in Europe last fall. Most
recently the two have taken up Kickboxing, which turns out to
not only be good exercise but also a great way to settle
disputes.
When he's not at work, or getting punched and kicked by his
fiancée, Chris has a few hobbies of his own. Chris is an avid
Mountain Bicyclist, frequently taking advantage of the wonderful
terrain found in the Bay Area. Chris also enjoys playing Ice
Hockey on a company sponsored team, and cheering on the
San Jose
Sharks. Chris has also played paintball since the invention of
the sport (he and his buddies may even try to argue that they
invented it), as well as camping and hiking. Lately he's
strongly considering spending more time playing his drums and
getting reconnected with his inner rock star. He's blessed to
have great friends and a wonderful wife who puts up with his
occasional relapses into the 80's.
